The Fishers of Men Maryland Division held tournament number 3 out of Elk Neck State Park, in Northeast MD, on the Upper Chesapeake Bay. First place was taken by Evan Roache and Shawn Ramey with 19.79 lbs. Long time FOM team Bob Wolf and John Dell had 16.85 lbs for 2nd place. Tom and Jimmy had 14.64 for 3rd place. One short of a limit, Rob Hagar and son Mason had a solid 4 for 14.32. 5th place was Paul and Jon with 4 for 11.68 lbs. Jacob and Dylan had 52 for 7.46 lbs. for 6th place and had Big Fish with a 5.04 largemouth. Jeff Pelkey and Ian Godwin had 7th with 7.33 lbs. Sean Peddicord and son Rory weighed 2 for 5.27 lbs. Jim Everhart and son Corey had 1 fish for 2.53 lbs. We missed Jeff and Alicia due to trailer issues. We had two teams with boat issues during the day including Mike and Ray Saganich with electrical problems and Joey Johnson and Brady Hobbs with fuel line issues. It has been a year of struggles with many teams having health or mechanical issues.
Evan and Shawn who placed 8th in our first tournament and Sean and Rorey who placed 8th in this tournament are both in line to win a beautiful $300.00 Lews rod and reel combo if they fish the remaining 2 tournaments this year provided by our long time partner Fishermens-Heaven.store.
The First Baptist Church of Havre de Grace was a wonderful host for BigTime Baits night providing us with a chili dinner and a perfect meeting location. There were 30 in attendance at the meeting. Paul Wiley our division chaplain provided the message speaking from the “Mind of Christ” passage Philippians 2:5-9. His message was on 3 examples of humility and related several experiences from past National Championships that he and Jon had attended. I would like to thank each one who helped with the tournament operation. From tournament weigh in set up (Ted Quatman), to publicity (Jon Crans), to our Chaplain (Paul Wiley), to family and fellow anglers who pitched in to help, we thank you for your service.
The Maryland Division would like to thank Fishermens-Heaven.store, Stanford Baits and Bigtime baits for their support for our division. Nathan Hess has designed and built our plaques for the winning teams and a big fish plaque for each tournament this year. Fish 4:19 eyewear has an interesting promotion for Fishers of Men this year. Missile baits has also provided a 30% off code for FOM-MD members.
